Lisa Brown, Independent Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator

I love trying different techniques to create cards especially when they create cool backgrounds. I’m Lisa Brown and welcome to my blog, Create Card Closet. Let’s check out how this card was created.

Using a Stampin’ Brayer, add some Fresh Freesia ink to the card base. In the sample above, ink was applied across the card horizontally. Then with a piece of Thick Basic White card stock 4-1/4 x 5-1/2, create a circle stencil with a Stylish Shapes Die. Lay this over your card base and apply a thin layer of Embossing Paste (plain or glitter) over the stencil. Keeping the paste thin allowed the ink beneath to show through for a soft wash of color.

Let’s try and zoom in and look.

The embossing paste over the Fresh Freesia gives a pink look.

These die cuts and words are from the Sweet Bugs Bundle. I just love those mushrooms and flowers. I have all products listed below.

Alternative: The above project was provided by Stampin’ Up! To step it up a notch, add a card base of Fresh Freesia measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and score in half. Then cut 2 pieces of basic white that are 4 x 5-1/4″. These will be used for your inked, brayer background and the other for the circle stencil. This just gives a little bit of layering and will give your card a little more structure.
