SAVI Sunday – Episode 40:  How To Make a Pillow Box

Happy Sunday to you!  The sun is shining so bright today on this last Sunday of November.  It is just a beautiful day.

Today I wanted to share a video on how to make a Pillow Box.  These are great for putting a gift card in them, a little treat, or maybe some cash.  The finished, fillable area is about 3/4 x 2-1/2 x 3-3/4".  So you can fill with a number of things.  Let's take a look at my pillow box finished off with Sheer Real Red ribbon and a poinsettia from the Poinsettia Place Suite.

I absolutely love how this turned out.  And although you can't see the shine of the flower, I did use the Brushed Metallic Cardstock to die cut the poinsettia petals.  This picture though, does show you the different hues or colors of the Brushed Metallic card stock that comes in the pack.  You get 6 sheets (2 each of the three metallic colors).

Here is my YouTube Video explaining how to make the Pillow Box.

To create make sure to watch the video:

  • You will need a piece of card stock (or use Designer Series Paper) cut to 5 x 5-1/2.
  • On the 5-1/2" side score at 1/2" and then 3" (or as in my video using the Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer which was 1/2" from the right then 2-1/2" from the left).  The video will show you!
  • Trace your arcs and cut out
  • Create your scores
  • Punch half circles to create thumb tabs
  • Adhere the tab
  • Fold up and decorate
