Diamond Fold Card – Silly Old Bear

Some of the best handmade cards are the ones that bring back a little bit of childhood nostalgia—and this card featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Silly Old Bear Suite Collection does exactly that! I think I may have mentioned that on a previous post using this suite collection, boy does it bring back childhood memories.

The Silly Old Bear Suite Collection includes the coordinating Sweet Old Friends stamps and dies, Sweet Words & Labels stamps and dies, Designer Series Paper, and Hundred Acre Woods 3D Embossing Folder.

For this card, I wanted the design to feel like a page pulled right out of a favorite storybook. I started with the striped DSP for a background, which gives the card a classic, graphic look. I then layered the beautiful map-inspired Designer Series Paper on the inside so you get the view of both when the card is open and closed. Both are layered with Mossy Meadow card stock.

The large diamond-shaped piece creates an interesting focal area while again, allowing the map design to peek out from behind the main image but done with the Hundred Acres 3D Embossing Folder instead of DSP paper.

One of my favorite details is the Hundred Acre Woods 3D Embossing Folder. The subtle woodland texture adds dimension without competing with Pooh and Eeyore. Stampin’ Up! did an amazing job designing the Silly Old Bear collection and all its coordinating items.

Card Details:

Very Vanilla CS:
- 11 x 4-1/4 scored at 5-1/2 and 8-3/4 on long side
- 3 x 3 for square diamond – embossed
- 1-3/4 x 2-1/4 to stand characters
Mossy Meadow CS:
- 3 x 4 mat layer to striped DSP design
- 5-1/4 x 4 mat layer inside behind map DSP design
- 2-1/4 x 3-1/4 for label die cut

Take 11 x 4-1/4 pieces of Vanilla CS and on one of the 4-1/4 sides, find the center point. Cut diagonally from center point to top of score line and then to bottom of score line. This will create a point and triangle on the one end of your card.

Fold that triangle flap back, align the one half of your embossed 3 x 3 embossed piece and glue to the flap.
